The biological meaning of an animal, or human is one that has completely developed. In the context of humans, the word adult could mean anything that is connected to social or legal notions. Legal adult means a person has reached the age of maturity. They are defined as independent, self sufficient, and responsible. They are also known as "majors", they can also be considered to be at the age of adulthood. There is a general belief that the minimum age that a person legally matures is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and country as well as the development of the individual's psychological.

When it comes to the life span of an individual adulthood is the time in which the person has achieved full physical and intellectual maturity. The typical age for adulthood is the age of 21 or 20. After middle age (starting at around 40) then comes older age (around age 60). In adulthood there are three distinct stages The first is early adulthood (18-30 years), Middle Adulthood (30-60 year olds) and finally, late adulthood (60%-60 percent). The early adulthood stage is the one of physical maturity we are at when we turn 20 to 40 years old. Our height and weight, however, may slightly rise. In the early years of adulthood, we attain the top of our physical abilities.
